If this model doesn’t work for you please reach out! \n\nWhy This Place Matters\nThe 100 Mile Wilderness holds one of the most intact winter ecosystems in the Northeast. With low human pressure and abundant habitat\, it offers rare opportunities to encounter and follow elusive species like lynx and fisher across long\, uninterrupted landscapes. \nWe gather in the homeland of the Wabanaki Peoples\, including the Penobscot Nation\, Passamaquoddy Tribe\, Maliseet (Wolastoqiyik)\, and Mi’kmaq. These lands—rivers\, forests\, and mountains—have been stewarded for thousands of years through deep relationships of respect\, reciprocity\, and awareness. \nThe region we now call the 100 Mile Wilderness and Gulf Hagas lies within traditional Penobscot homelands\, part of a much larger interconnected landscape traveled seasonally for hunting\, fishing\, and gathering. \nWe acknowledge that this land was never ceded\, and that Wabanaki peoples continue to live\, work\, and care for these places today. \nAs we move across the winter landscape\, reading tracks and signs\, we do so with humility—recognizing that the skills we practice are rooted in ways of knowing held by Indigenous peoples across generations. These are skills we are more remembering in our own bodies than we are learning in our minds. \n\nGroup Size\nLimited to 9 participants to ensure depth of learning\, quality tracking conditions\, and minimal disturbance on the landscape. \n\nIf you’ve ever wanted to truly understand what’s happening in the winter woods—to move beyond identification into relationship—this is trip is for you. Hope to see you there!
